With a statement on their official website, Premier League club Ipswich Town have announced that exciting winger Tudor Mendel has signed a new contract.
The forward's new deal was confirmed a day after he made his senior debut for the Tractor Boys, coming on for the final ten minutes of their 3-1 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
Mendel put pen to paper on a new two-year deal, with the club holding an option to extend his contract for the 2028-29 season.
Born in England to Nigerian parents, Mendel boasts a strong footballing lineage, with his maternal grandfather, John Adeleye-Abai, representing Nigeria at international level.
"My grandfather on my mother’s side played internationally for his country, Nigeria. I actually have a photo at home of him with Pele at a game (John Adeleye-Abai is on Pele's left), which I always found inspirational," Tudor told Fifa's official website in 2022.
Mendel was named Ipswich Town's Academy Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season after registering 18 goal contributions in 20 appearances for the development squad.
The attacker trained with the first team during pre-season preparations, starting friendlies against Wycombe Wanderers and Le Havre.
He was also included in the travelling squad for the club's training camp in Germany.
Mendel had spells with Chelsea and Anderlecht before joining Ipswich Town in 2024.
