Former Feyenoord midfielder Mario Been has praised Tolu Arokodare’s aerial ability after the Nigerian striker scored in Ajax’s 1-1 draw against NEC Nijmegen on Saturday night.
Arokodare showcased his physical strength and impressive jumping ability to outleap Perr Schuurs and head home a cross from Jorthy Mokio, beating goalkeeper Gonzalo Crettaz.
Following his goal, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker paid tribute to teammate Kasper Dolberg, who suffered an ACL injury during the international break, by raising the Danish forward’s shirt behind the goal and showing it to the crowd.
Reacting to the goal on ESPN, Been jokingly remarked that Arokodare had jumped so high he was almost above the stadium, describing the striker as a powerhouse.
"Tolu is already a powerhouse. He can jump pretty well too. He jumped very high, almost above the stadium,” Been said on ESPN, via Voetbal Primeur.
The analyst highlighted the Nigerian international’s height, strength and ability to control aerial balls, stressing that he is difficult for defenders to handle when used effectively.
"His height is his quality, and if you use him in this way, you have a very good player. Tolu heads the ball in really fantastically. It is truly impressive how he controls that ball. He is so difficult to defend. Truly beastly strong," ESPN analyst added.
Arokodare’s latest goal takes his tally to seven goals and two assists across all competitions since joining the club on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
