Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen scored for Galatasaray but was involved in a heated confrontation with Villarreal defender Santiago Mouriño during their 2-1 pre-season defeat at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex RAMS Park on Saturday, according to a report by Patronlar Dünyası.
Villarreal took an early lead through Ayoze Pérez in the third minute before Osimhen restored parity just two minutes later.
The Nigerian striker capitalised on a defensive error to make it 1-1, with the early goal adding to an eventful opening period.
The match later produced controversy involving Osimhen and Mouriño.
In the 37th minute, tension developed between the two players while Galatasaray were building an attack from the right.
Following a verbal exchange, Osimhen moved towards the Villarreal defender and pushed him, causing Mouriño to fall to the ground.
Osimhen then continued to show his displeasure before the pair confronted each other again after Mouriño got back to his feet.
The incident ended with the players clashing head-to-head.
Villarreal regained the lead in the 41st minute through Georges Mikautadze, leaving Galatasaray trailing 2-1 at the interval.
The Spanish side maintained its advantage to secure victory in the pre-season friendly.
Despite the defeat, Osimhen ended the friendly on the scoresheet, while his confrontation with Mouriño became one of the major talking points from the game.
