Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare made a dream start to life at Ajax after scoring on his first appearance for the Dutch giants in their 3-1 pre-season victory over FC Volendam on Sunday.
Arokodare, who recently joined Ajax on a season-long loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers with an option to make the move permanent, came off the bench in the second half and wasted no time making his mark.
The 25-year-old forward was introduced in the 71st minute as Ajax continued their preparations for the new campaign at the Kras Stadion.
He replaced Marcos Leonardo, who had earlier scored to put Ajax in control after Anton Gaaei opened the scoring.
The Nigeria international completed the scoring in the 88th minute, reacting quickly inside the penalty area after Gaaei’s cross caused confusion in the FC Volendam defence before calmly finishing to give Ajax a 3-1 victory.
The goal marked a positive beginning for Arokodare, who arrived in Amsterdam following an impressive spell at Racing Genk before moving to Wolves.
With his debut strike, Arokodare has immediately sent a strong message as he looks to become a key attacking option for Ajax this season.
