England's U20 World Cup winner who is open to representing Nigeria joins FC Aktobe

With a statement on their official website, Kazakhstan Premier League club FC Aktobe have confirmed the signing of dual-national winger Sheyi Ojo.

Ojo has joined the five-time Kazakhstan champions on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Slovenian outfit NK Maribor.

Born in Hemel Hempstead, the attacker has caps for England's Young Lions at U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 level.

However, Ojo has made it clear his parents are Nigerians and would consider playing for the Super Eagles if approached by the Nigeria Football Federation.

The 29-year-old was part of England's Fifa U20 World Cup-winning squad in 2017, alongside future African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman, former Golden Eaglets invitee Ovie Ejaria and Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate Josh Onomah

Ojo came through the youth ranks at Liverpool, earning promotion to the Reds' first team.

He has enjoyed a well-travelled career, representing Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Cardiff City and Millwall in England, alongside spells with Reims (France), Rangers (Scotland), Kortrijk (Belgium) and Maribor (Slovenia).

Ojo shares the same agent as Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Ola Aina, Josh Maja and Terem Moffi.
