Brighton and Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler is uncertain about the availability of Nigerian forward Femi Azeez for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Azeez joined the Seagulls before the close of the summer transfer window following an impressive spell with Millwall in the Championship.
During the 2025/26 campaign, the Nigerian forward recorded 11 goals and eight assists in 37 appearances, performances that helped attract Brighton’s interest.
Following his summer move to Brighton, Azeez is yet to make his debut for the Seagulls due to fitness issues, which also forced him to miss Nigeria’s two 2027 AFCON qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as the friendly against Russia.
However, the Nigerian forward stepped up his recovery during the international break, featuring for Brighton in a friendly encounter as he continued his push to regain full fitness.
Despite making his comeback, Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler remained uncertain about Azeez’s availability for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Sunderland after the forward reportedly suffered some minor issues during the friendly.
Speaking during his press conference ahead of the clash, Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler revealed that the Nigerian international is expected to undergo a late fitness test to determine his availability for the encounter.
Meanwhile, Azeez will be hoping to overcome the minor issue in time to be included in the squad and finally make his Premier League debut for the Seagulls.
