'I'm feeling at ease' - Ghana striker reveals bond with Durosinmi, cites Baah and Arokodare as example

Racing Genk's Black Stars striker Jerry Afriyie has highlighted his growing friendship with Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi.

The two forwards joined Racing Genk during the summer transfer window, with Durosinmi arriving from Pisa for a club-record fee of €10.5 million, while Afriyie joined from Al-Qadsiah for €5 million.

Since joining the Belgian club, Afriyie has played second fiddle to Durosinmi, with the Ghanaian yet to make his first start in the Belgian Pro League, although he has made three substitute appearances.

The teenage forward spoke positively about the connection he has developed with Durosinmi, comparing their relationship to the close friendship between Ghanaian winger Bonsu Baah and compatriot Tolu Arokodare during their time together at Genk.

Speaking to  Het Belang Van Limburg, Afriyie said: "I’m feeling more and more at ease. I click particularly well with Rafiu Durosinmi.  A bit like Bonsu Baah had Tolu (Arokodare) as a 'big friend'.

"I am especially happy that the main language here is English. Last year was sometimes tough at a club where almost exclusively French was spoken."

Durosinmi has made an impressive start to life at Genk, scoring five goals in seven appearances in the Belgian Pro League.

Despite his impressive form at club level, he was a surprise omission from the Super Eagles squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as their international friendly against Russia.
