Brazilian fullback Arthur Augusto de Matos Soares has revealed the advice given to him by Nigerian forward Victor Boniface before his summer move to Werder Bremen on loan.
Boniface spent last campaign on loan at the Weserstadion following a failed move to Italian giants AC Milan after failing his medical examination.
The Nigeria international secured the move to the Green-Whites in an attempt to rediscover his best form but failed to make a significant impact with the Bundesliga club.
The former Union Saint-Gilloise forward struggled to secure consistent game time due to poor form and recurring fitness issues with his knee.
Boniface featured in just 11 league appearances and provided two assists before returning to the BayArena at the start of the new campaign.
Speaking to Bild, Arthur revealed that he spoke with the Nigerian forward before making the move on deadline day of the summer window.
The Brazilian fullback revealed that Boniface advised him to consider making the move, as the club would be a good place for his growth and development.
"But we did speak briefly. He told me that it's a good opportunity for me to develop further here,” he revealed.
“Of course, I hope things work out better for me than they did for him."
Arthur joined the Green-Whites on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen after struggling to secure consistent game time at the BayArena.
Since making the move, he has had a strong start to the campaign, featuring prominently in the first two league games against RB Leipzig and FC Köln.
