Hull City and Burnley join the race to sign history-making Nigerian striker

English clubs Hull City and Burnley are showing interest in signing history-making Nigerian striker George Ilenikhena before the close of the current summer transfer window, according to transfer market reporter Rudi Galetti.

The Lagos-born attacker made history as the youngest player of Nigerian descent to score in the Champions League when he found the net for Antwerp against Barcelona on December 13, 2023, aged just 17 years and 119 days.

Ilenikhena, who joined Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad during the winter window as a replacement for former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, has started the new campaign in impressive fashion.

The 20-year-old has scored three goals in his last two appearances, finding the back of the net against Al-Najmah in the King Cup of Champions and Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League.

His impressive start to the campaign has once again stirred uncertainty surrounding his future, with speculation linking the young forward with a return to European football.

Hull City and Burnley are among the clubs showing interest in securing the services of the Nigerian forward during the current summer window.

Both English clubs have rmade enquiries about the details and conditions required to complete a deal for the former Monaco striker.

They have also expressed their appreciation for Ilenikhena's qualities as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of their respective promotion ambitions.

Ilenikhena has also been linked with  Sevilla, Bologna and Trabzonspor this summer.
