Tolu Arokodare has admitted he would like to make his move to Ajax Amsterdam permanent, saying he hopes to remain at the Dutch Eredivisie giants if he enjoys a successful spell there.
The Nigeria international recently completed a season-long loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Ajax, with a non-mandatory option to buy included in the agreement.
Arokodare wasted little time making an impression, scoring just 17 minutes into his debut—albeit in an unofficial match—as Ajax defeated Volendam 3-1 on Sunday.
Although the forward struggled during his maiden season at Molineux, the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee has built a reputation as a prolific goalscorer.
Arokodare won the 2024-25 Belgian Pro League Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals in 40 appearances.
He also impressed during spells with Valmiera FC and Amiens SC, netting a combined 43 goals in 97 matches for the two clubs.
When asked about his plans after the loan spell, Arokodare was quoted as saying by Ajax Life: "I can’t say that yet. Ajax is a great team, but the clubs decide. The mentality is there, the people are nice, and the supporters are amazing.
"As a footballer, you want to win and score. If I manage to do that here, naturally I want to stay."
Arokodare has a contract with parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers until June 30, 2029.
