Nigeria target Trabzonspor record held by Georgia but Onuachu struggling for goals

Nigeria are just three goals away from breaking a long-standing Trabzonspor record held by Georgia, but Paul Onuachu’s slow start to the new season could be a concern, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Nigerian players have scored 107 goals for the Turkish club, leaving the country within touching distance of Georgia's record of 109 goals scored by players representing a foreign nation.

However, Onuachu, one of Nigeria's leading goalscorers at Trabzonspor, has yet to find his rhythm this season.

The Super Eagles striker has drawn a blank in each of his first three matches, increasing the pressure on him to rediscover his scoring touch.

Of Nigeria’s 107 goals, Anthony Nwakaeme accounts for 50, while Onuachu has contributed 43.

Eddy Onazi, Isaac Promise and Chibuike Nwaiwu have scored seven, four and three goals respectively.

Brazil are third on the list with 105 goals, while Poland (57) and Croatia (47) occupy fourth and fifth place respectively.

Onuachu will be hoping to open his account for the season on Thursday, August 27, when Trabzonspor face Ferencvaros in the second leg of their Europa League playoff.
