Flying Eagles defender Musa Wahab has expressed confidence that Nigeria can secure victory when they face Burkina Faso in the final of the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament in Togo.
The centre-back revealed that the Nigeria U-20 side is well prepared for the decisive encounter after defeating Ivory Coast 4-3 on penalties in the semi-final, following a 2-2 draw at the end of regulation time.
Speaking ahead of the final, Wahab said the team has been working hard to improve their understanding and strengthen their ability to play as a unit.
“We are preparing and we are trying our best to play as a team," Wahab told Dagashotz. “We are happy and calm. We are hoping for nothing but a win.”
Nigeria booked their place in the final after overcoming Ivory Coast in a tense semi-final, while Burkina Faso secured their spot after defeating Niger Republic.
The encounter also presents Nigeria with an opportunity to avenge their group-stage defeat to Burkina Faso, who defeated the Flying Eagles 2-0 in their final group game.
With the title at stake, Wahab and his teammates will be hoping to produce a stronger performance and secure victory to retain the WAFU Zone B crown.
Nigeria won the previous edition after defeating Ghana in the final.
