Southampton Scout Runs The Rule Over Kennedy Igboananike
Published: July 23, 2013
With 9 goals in 17 matches, Kennedy Igboananike is the second highest goalscorer in Sweden's topflight.
For that reason, the 24 - year - old AIK attacker is highly sought after by clubs in the ongoing transfer window.
Tord Grip, former right hand man of Sven-Göran Eriksson, who now scouts for Southampton has confirmed that the English Premier League club was interested in Igboananike.
But a deal may not materialize as the young Nigerian has not played for the national team.
Fotbolltransfers.com with reference to Expressen quoted Tord as saying: '' He has qualities to play in a higher league, there's no doubt about it.
''I have referred him to Southampton, but in that he is unable to obtain a work permit - or, I do not think so - it's a problem.
''He is not a Swedish citizen and does not have enough caps (for Nigeria). But there are several countries that may be interesting.''
