Iwobi, Bassey and Chukwueze undergo recovery session at Fulham ahead of Arsenal clash
Published: October 16, 2025
Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze have returned to London following international duty with the Super Eagles, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
For the first time in history, three Fulham players started simultaneously for Nigeria, as manager Eric Chelle named Iwobi, Bassey and Chukwueze in his starting XI for the emphatic 4–0 victory over Benin's Cheetahs in Tuesday's 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Uyo.
Bassey completed the full 90 minutes, while Iwobi was substituted with two minutes remaining.
Chukwueze was withdrawn at half-time after picking up a knock and replaced by Olakunle Olusegun.
With a Premier League meeting against Arsenal looming, there was little time to celebrate Nigeria's progression to the World Cup qualifying playoffs as the trio swiftly boarded a flight back to the English capital.
Fulham confirmed via their official social media channels that Iwobi, Bassey and Chukwueze have rejoined the squad after the international break.
The Nigeria internationals were pictured taking part in a light recovery session, which included work on the stationary bike.
Manager Marco Silva was also seen in conversation with Chukwueze during the session, amid concerns over the winger's fitness.
Further clarity on his condition is expected on Friday when the Portuguese boss delivers his pre-match press conference.
Arsenal, currently top of the Premier League table, visit Craven Cottage on Saturday as they look to secure a third consecutive league victory for the first time this season.
