Published: October 18, 2013
Former Nigeria international Stephen Makinwa has commented on the rationale behind the contract he signed with Chinese club Beijing Baxy.
Recall that the 30 - year - old attacker penned a one- and - a - half year contract with the capital club in July, which ended his 12 - year adventure in Italy, where he represented amongst others Lazio, Chievo Verona and Genoa.
“When I heard about China I wanted to move immediately but I chose the ambitious team over the money.
“I was briefly on trial with Crystal Palace in England but they took a player from another side in the Premiership.
“For China I had just two options really, one was Chongqing F.C. and their offer was more than double Baxy’s,” Makinwa told goal.com.
Stephen Makinwa has notched up four goals in his first nine games for Beijing Baxy, who are placed seventh on the log.
