After 680 minutes of game time, Wilfred Ndidi scores his first goal in Besiktas colours

Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi opened his goalscoring account for Turkish giants Besiktas in their 2-0 away victory over Konyaspor on Wednesday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The experienced midfielder joined the Black Eagles in August, bringing an end to his eight-year spell with former Premier League champions Leicester City.

Making his ninth appearance in all competitions for the Istanbul outfit, Ndidi broke the deadlock in the 21st minute, rising highest to head home a corner delivered by Orkun Kokcu.

It was the Super Eagles star's first headed goal since April 23, 2024, when he found the net in Leicester City's 5-0 thrashing of Southampton in the Championship.

Before Wednesday's strike, Ndidi had featured for a total of 680 minutes across nine matches without scoring for Besiktas.

His only other goal contribution this season came against Kocaelispor on matchday seven of the Super Lig.

Former Nigeria Football Federation target Tammy Abraham sealed the win in the 72nd minute, capitalising on a goalkeeping error to slot into an empty net.

After nine rounds of matches, Victor Osimhen's Galatasaray sit top of the Super Lig table with 25 points, nine clear of sixth-placed Besiktas.
