Exclusive: AWOL Kano Pillars Midfielder, Abdullahi Shehu Absconds With $12,000 Belonging To Al Orubah
Published: June 29, 2014
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Kano Pillars defensive midfielder, Abdullahi Shehu, has gone back on his word, after he refused to sign the four - year contract proposed by Saudi Arabia Pro League side, Al Orubah.
The Nigeria B international arrived the Al Jouf region on Thursday to undergo a routine medical with Al Orubah, but without giving any reason, he failed to append his signature to the deal.
The former Flying Eagles fullback collected $12,000 (approximately =N=2m in Nigeria currency) from the Saudi Arabian club, and he has refused to return the money after the transfer hit a brick wall.
At the moment, it is unknown the next step of Abdullahi Shehu, as he was last sighted in Riyadh on Sunday morning.
It is confirmed that he has a United States of America visa on his international passport.
That is not to say he is on his way to sign for a club in the MLS, though it is known he is on the wishlist of teams in Portugal and Kuwait.
Kano Pillars are unhappy that the proposed switch to Al Orubah did not materialize, and the leadership of the Glo Premier League side has changed its tune, saying the club did not give him permission to travel to the Middle East.
