Fifa Suspends Nigeria From All Football Activities
Published: July 09, 2014
The hammer of Football governing body, Fifa, fell on Nigeria on Wednesday evening after the Zurich based organization suspended the Nigeria Football Federation for an indefinite period due to interference from government.
According to the official website of Fifa, sanctions will be lifted when all violations are eliminated regarding the dismissal of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.
It would be recalled that three days after the Super Eagles crashed out of the mundial, Minister of Sports, Tamuno Danagogo, fired all members of the Executive Committee and appointed Lawrence Katken as Acting Secretary-General of the Federation.
Also, Aminu Maigari, the substantive head of the NFF, was arrested after returning from the World Cup.
The consequence is that Nigeria will not be able to take part in any international competition, even at club level, and hold friendly matches.
The Falconets will not represent Africa at the Fifa Under 20s in Canada if the anomaly is not rectified.
