'Not negotiating' - Transfer guru Romano confirms Barcelona are not in talks with Osimhen
Published: October 30, 2025
Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano has dismissed reports linking Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen with a move to Barcelona ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
Osimhen, who completed a permanent switch to Galatasaray earlier this year, has been in fine form for the Turkish champions, netting six goals in nine appearances across all competitions.
His blistering start to life in Istanbul has fuelled speculation about renewed interest from top European clubs, including Barcelona.
However, speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano clarified that while Barcelona are indeed exploring options to replace veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires in 2026, there have been no negotiations with Osimhen
“For sure Barcelona are looking for strikers for 2026 that’s important to say because {Robert} Lewandowski is out of contract and has concrete chances of leaving the club on a free," Romano stated.
"So Barcelona are looking for strikers,” Romano said. “But at the moment, Osimhen is not negotiating or talking with any club."
Romano added that it is normal for big clubs to make early inquiries as part of transfer planning but stressed that Barcelona are not negotiating for Osimhen and the striker is fully focused on Galatasaray.
"Barcelona internally are following several strikers' situations to be informed, making some calls to understand the potential markets for the strikers.
"For a big club, it is normal to make calls and prepare for the market. It doesn't mean you're negotiating.
"Barcelona are not negotiating for Osimhen today (Wednesday, October 29) and Osimhen is focused on Galatasaray. That's very important to say. Barcelona are just trying to understand the strikers."
Before joining the Turkish giants, the Super Eagles star had been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.
