The United States Women’s coach, Jill Ellis , has admitted that the Super Falcons put up a good fight against her side in both countries final Group D fixture at BC Place Stadium,Vancouver on Wednesday morning.
But the major talking point after the game was Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon refusing to shake hands with the female coach after Nigeria’s painful exit from the competition.
“I typically always go and shake the coach’s hand, ” Jill Ellis told reporters in her post match comments, according to the online edition of The Oregonian.
“The bench personnel shook my hand and the coach, I said, “You’re not going to shake my hand?” He said, No.
“He kind of put his hand out a little bit, but that’s his call not mine.”
Edwin Okon had claimed that he shook hands with Jill Ellis but video replays suggested otherwise.
