Official : Viborg And Babajide Ogunbiyi Go Their Separate Ways
Published: December 12, 2015
Danish Superliga side Viborg have announced that the club will not be extending the contract of Nigerian - American defender Babajide Ogunbiyi.
It was always going to be tough for the center half to bag a new deal with the Green Ones, as he was behind in the pecking order of defenders at the club, with only three starts to his name since the season began.
“Ogunbiyi has been a strong man for Viborg FF for several years and in two phases, and had large share in the sovereign promotion to Alka Super League, ” Viborg sports manager Ole Nielsen told the club’s official website.
“He has however had limited playing time this season, and when his position is also a place where we are already well occupied, so it is natural that we go our separate ways when the contract expires.”
Apart from a very brief stop at New York Red Bulls in the summer of 2012, Ogunbiyi has represented Viborg since 2010.
