Nwankwo Kanu : Alex Iwobi Is The Star We Are Looking For
Published: February 19, 2016
Arsenal hero Nwankwo Kanu has tipped Alex Iwobi to be a future star for the Super Eagles following his imperious displays since he broke into the Gunners first team.
Iwobi does not turn 20 until May but has appeared two times for Nigeria’s national team, with coach Sunday Oliseh handing him his debut in the 2-0 loss to DR Congo in an international friendly staged in Belgium last October.
“He is a young lad and he has all it takes. He just needs to work hard and keep his head down and keep pushing so he gets his chance, ” Kanu told Arsenal Player, according to arsenal.com.
“Football is all about chances and when you have the opportunity you have to grab it. I believe he is going to make his mark. He is from Nigeria and we all support him and love him.
“He is the star we are looking for. He is going to learn a lot from Arsène Wenger and the club he is playing for - we need him to bring that back home and make sure he can help the national team.”
Iwobi is yet to make his competitive debut for the Super Eagles but there is no doubt surrounding his international future as the striker is expected to feature for the Dream Team VI at the Olympic Games this summer.
