Former Everton attacker credits Dundee's tactical discipline for frustrating Iheanacho and Celtic

Former Everton forward James McFadden has praised Dundee FC for their impressive defensive organization that limited Kelechi Iheanacho's influence in Celtic's 2-0 defeat at Dens Park.

Iheanacho, who featured for the full 90 minutes, struggled to make a meaningful impact as Dundee's compact setup frustrated Celtic's attack.

Speaking on Sky Sports, McFadden commended the Dundee's tactical discipline, noting how they denied Celtic space to operate through the middle.

"Dundee are making it really difficult for Celtic to play through the middle. They're really narrow and compact," he said.

"They're making it difficult to get the ball to Iheanacho."

Despite Celtic’s recent struggles in front of goal, the Nigerian international has been one of the team’s standout performers since joining as a free agent in the summer.

Iheanacho has registered four goal contributions — three goals and one assist — in seven appearances across all competitions.

While he will take pride in his individual form, the forward will be keen to translate his impact into helping Celtic return to their best.

Iheanacho will also be hoping his impressive form earns him a recall to the Super Eagles squad in November ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoffs.
