Siasia Confident Nigeria Can Beat Egypt Home And Away
Published: March 08, 2016
Interim Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia is confident that his charges can pick up all three points when they confront Egypt in an African Nations Cup qualifying fixture against Egypt in Kaduna.
All the 19 invited home-based players have arrived the Bolton White Apartments by Tuesday afternoon, with Chisom Chikatara and Ezekiel Bassey the latest players to join the team.
The Green Eagles, as they were called back in the day, thrashed Egypt 4-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Lagos in October 1977.
“We can recreate October 1977; why not? The home –boys have come in and full training has commenced,” said Siasia to thenff.com.
“Everyone is rearing to go. By the time the foreign –based players arrive, the competition will be what we want.
“I insist that we have invited the players who are capable of giving us the three points in Kaduna and another three points in Alexandria.”
The Pharaohs have a hundred percent record in Group G of AFCON qualifiers after two rounds, followed by Nigeria who have garnered four points.
