KuPS Stopper Egwuekwe Explains Why He Is Scoring Goals In Finland
Published: May 14, 2016
Azubuike Egwuekwe has revealed that he primarily plays as a central defender for Finnish club KuPS though he is the third top scorer for his team in the Veikkausliiga after nine rounds.
If his goal in the League Cup clash against MP is included in the mix, the stopper has found the net three times this season, the same number scored by the leading scorer in the Nigerian topflight last season and teammate, Gbolahan Salami.
“I am still playing as a centre back here, ” Egwuekwe said to allnigeriasoccer.com when asked the position he plays for KuPS.
“Our captain knows how to deliver good balls from set pieces, that is why I am scoring goals here.”
Egwuekwe, 26, has started and lasted the entirety of all the matches contested by KuPS in the Veikkausliiga, racking up 720 minutes of game time in the process.
