The former African Women Footballer of the Year continued here role as a striker in the starting XI while Aluko started on the bench before entering the fray nine minutes out of intermission.
Danielle Carter’s 18th minute strike was enough for Arsenal to secure victory, the winger beat her marker before firing into the top corner.
Two minutes before the interval, Oshoala had a good chance to double Arsenal’s advantage but her effort was feeble, and she almost notched an assist early in the second half when her cross found Smith, but the striker hit the woodwork.
Aluko would have restored parity for Chelsea on the hour mark but saw her shot sail over the bar.
On 82 minutes, Asisat Oshoala was shown a yellow card for a foul on So-Yun then got replaced six minutes later.
The 21-year-old ex-Rivers Angels dazzler penned a two-year contract with Arsenal in March, which ended her association with Liverpool Ladies.
