CSKA Moscow coach Leonid Slutsky has stated the Russian champions would love to extend the contract of Aaron Samuel depending on the success of his surgery.
The Nigeria international is scheduled to undergo surgery in Germany at the end of May or first week of June after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg.
“We would like to continue cooperation. But some specifics will be after surgery,” said Slutsky to sport-express.ru.
“Everything depends on the situation of things - how serious the injury is, what period of rehabilitation, whether the injury have further consequences.
“Unfortunately, Dr. Einhorn, to which we send the players with a cruciate ligament injury, is on vacation. As far as I know, the operation is scheduled for the end of May.”
Aaron Samuel’s contract with the Muscovites will run out on May 31, 2016.
