Exclusive: Scottish Premiership New Boys Rangers Cannot Afford To Sign $5M Rated Portland Timbers DP Adi
Published: June 03, 2016
Fanendo Adi’s agent has reacted to speculation linking the Portland Timbers striker with a transfer to Scottish Premiership newcomers Rangers in the summer.
It is correct that The Teddy Bears recently sent some of their trusted scouts to run the rule over the Nigerian striker, but a deal is not in the offing for the simple reason that the club can’t afford his $5 million transfer fee not to talk of his wages.
“Yes, it is correct that Adi was scouted by Rangers but I don’t think they can pay his big transfer fee and the league is not so attractive like the Premier League, ” Adi’s representative told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Anyway there is nothing concrete at the moment. Rangers and many clubs in the UK have watched him but you know the rules in the UK.
“It will be difficult for him to get a work permit.”
Fanendo Adi’s guaranteed compensation for 2016 is $712,500.00, while he has no release clause in his contract.
The 25-year-old penned a new three-year deal with Portland Timbers in March 2016.
