Nigeria Coach Siasia Gave Players Hairdryer Treatment After Shock Loss To Denmark
Published: June 06, 2016
Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia was unhappy with the performance of his charges against Denmark at the recently concluded Suwon Invitational Tournament in South Korea.
Following the humiliating 6-2 loss to the Scandinavians, the retired Nigeria international gave the whole players the hairdryer treatment.
“I have never seen Siasia so angry, he told us that we did not put in our best effort against Denmark,” one of the players in South Korea told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“He did not blame a single individual, he blamed the goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and attackers. All of us.”
He added : “I will say we didn’t do well in this competition because some players were not match fit. They don’t play regularly for their European clubs.
“In the next camping, the majority of the foreign-based professionals will be available and we will have the opportunity to correct our mistakes.”
The African champions at U23 level lost their opener to South Korea 1-0, got thrashed 6-2 by South Korea, before a face-saving win over Honduras on Monday afternoon.
