Exclusive : Malaga End Pursuit Of Arsenal-Bound Wonderkid Kelechi Nwakali
Published: June 08, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Spanish La Liga side Málaga have ended their pursuit of Nigeria U20 international Kelechi Nwakali.
In the first week of May, high-level talks took place between representatives of Los Boquerones and the teenager’s camp regarding the possibility of the player moving to the La Rosaleda next month.
But the transfer interest from Malaga was highly publicized which did not go down well with Kelechi Nwakali’s advisers, and they had no choice but to pull out of negotiations, especially as an agreement-in-principle had been reached with Arsenal.
Many clubs were interested in signing the ASJ/Diamond Academy poster boy, including Olympiakos, Fenerbahce, West Ham and Udinese, after starring at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup.
Now 18, Kelechi Nwakali has already agreed a five-year deal with the Gunners which is set to be activated in the coming days.
