Published: June 08, 2016
Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi and Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo have expressed deep sorrow at news of the death of former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi.
The 20-year-old Iwobi was not coached by Keshi but he recognized his achievements as a player and coach.
On the other hand, Omeruo was handed his debut by the former New Nigeria Bank central defender ahead of the 2013 African Cup of Nations.
The new Arsenal number 17 tweeted : “Not Many Have Done What He Did For Nigerian Football , He Will Be Greatly Missed #RIPKeshi #Nigerian Legend.”
Kenneth Omeruo said : “You weren’t just a coach to me. You were a father, You believed I had what it took to play for the country even when I had doubts myself..
“Even when people said Cut him, you kept me and encouraged me.. I have always prayed to work with you again.. Guess that won’t happen.. No doubt I will miss you. Your Children will miss Nigerians will miss you.. RIP BIG BOSS.”
Stephen Keshi died at the age of 54 on Wednesday morning after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest.
