Exclusive: Liverpool Striker Awoniyi Not Joining Kalmar On Loan, Sporting Director Reveals

Kalmar sporting director Thomas Andersson Borstam has put to bed rumours that Nigeria youth-teamer Taiwo Awoniyi will be joining the Swedish Allsvenskan side in the summer transfer window.
The Dream Team VI star originally joined English Premier League club Liverpool hours leading up to the close of the transfer window last summer, but was immediately shipped out on loan to FSV Frankfurt in Germany after failing to secure a work permit.
Over the course of the 2015-2016 season, Awoniyi made ten starts for FSV Frankfurt in the second-tier and managed one goal, and it was earlier suggested that he will certainly get more playing opportunities if he is signed on loan by Kalmar.
“Nothing has been decided regarding Taiwo. At the moment we are not in talks with Liverpool.
“He is not coming to Kalmar , ” Thomas Andersson Borstam told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Taiwo Awoniyi, 18, returned with the Nigeria U23s from South Korea on Wednesday morning and is presently in Abuja catching up with old friends after the team was given a one-week break.
