Osimhen Agent Protegee, Benteke Dropped For Being Too Old; New Osimhen In The Making
Published: June 18, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Nigeria Football Federation dropped a player that was personally handed over to under-fire Golden Eaglets manager by Victor Osimhen’s intermediary, Yusuf Shira Ayila.
Nicknamed Benteke, he was axed by the assistant directors of the NFF led by Robinson Okosun for being too old.
Before the 60-player list was drawn up on Friday, Nigeria Football Federation officials physically examined the players and randomly dropped the trainees who appeared above the age limit for the Fifa Under 17 World Cup, or to put it another way, the players that they think can’t pass the MRI test.
The cash-strapped NFF is mindful of wasting its resources arranging for MRI tests for all the players earlier picked by coach Manu Garba, as there will be a public outcry, especially from the media, if the players are told to use their own funds for the tests.
Meanwhile, there could be a new Victor Osimhen in the making. Tolu was brought to camp by Yusuf Shira Ayila, he is taller than Osimhen and appears very young. He made the 60-player shortlist.
