Chelsea Target Orji Okonkwo Bound For Spezia
Published: June 20, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria U20 international Orji Okonkwo is bound for Italian Serie B club Spezia.
The striker and his representatives penned a contract with the Little Eagles after he attained the age of majority.
Okonkwo has since gotten his work permit and will join his new employer after the third round of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.
In addition to Spezia, the likes of Chelsea, West Ham and Kalmar were interested in securing his signature following his exploits at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup.
But there was only going to be one winner in this particular race. Spezia have a cooperative agreement with Abuja Football College and easily saw off the challenge from their more illustrious rivals.
