Wolves Rising Star Dominic Iorfa Will Not Represent Nigeria During World Cup Qualifiers, Dad Insists
Published: July 10, 2016
Retired Nigeria international Dominic Iorfa Snr has broken his silence and set the record straight regarding reports, even from official sources, that his son Wolverhampton Wanderers stopper Iorfa Jnr is set to debut for the Super Eagles during the World Cup qualifiers which begin in October.
The Nigeria Football Federation had stated that they had approached Iorfa Jnr as well as Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom to represent the Super Eagles and are hoping to receive clearance from Fifa before the Super Eagles tackle Zambia.
But Dominic Iorfa Snr has dismissed the reports, adding that his son remains committed to England for now until he comes of age football-wise.
“There is no talk like that ( of his invitation to the Super Eagles) and my son is too young to play for Nigeria now, ”Dominic Iorfa Snr told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Born in Southend-on-Sea 21 years ago, Dominic Iorfa Jnr played for England’s U18 and U20 teams before his promotion to the U21s.
He trained with the senior team of England in September 2015.
