Exclusive: Agent Dismisses Orji Okonkwo Tottenham Link, Says Striker Is Spezia-Bound
Published: July 11, 2016
Orji Okonkwo’s bonafide intermediary Tayo Adeleke has moved quickly to dismiss reports that the Nigeria U20 international has been offered to Tottenham Hotspur and has stressed that his client is bound for Spezia.
The agent added that representatives of the White Hart Lane outfit have not approached Football College Abuja as regards to a possible transfer.
“It is not true, we have not heard anything from Tottenham Hotspur, ” Tayo Adeleke told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“There is no club that can take Orji Okonkwo to Europe without contacting me and Abuja Football College and we have not been contacted.”
On a lighter note, agent Adeleke added, laughing : “ Let us hope that this rumour is true, he is a big player now. We are ready for Tottenham Hotspur, let them come. ”
The agent has revealed that Orji Okonkwo has signed a contract with Spezia that will keep him at the club until 2019, and the Italians have already paid a percentage of his transfer fees.
It is correct that the teenager was linked with a move to Chelsea after the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup, but the Technical Director of the Blues, Michael Emenalo, did not sanction the move as a substantive coach was yet to be appointed as at that time.
