Published: July 20, 2016
Northampton Town have started running the rule over Nigerian starlet Emmanuel Sonupe, with a view to offering him a contract before the start of the 2016-2017 season.
The midfielder was observed at close quarters on Tuesday night as the Cobblers were held to a 1-1 draw by Queens Park Rangers in a pre-season friendly at the Sixfields Stadium.
Three players of Nigerian descent were involved, with former Man City stopper Nedum Onuoha and Olamide Shodipo making the starting line-up for the London team.
Sonupe trained with League One club Charlton Athletic earlier this month and took part in a friendly against Welling United.
The youngster was released by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
