Published: August 10, 2016
Scouts representing Real Madrid will be in Belgium this weekend to run the rule over FC Dordrecht wonderkid Lateef Omidiji during a tournament for young players.
The American-born striker has attracted the attention of a host of clubs in Europe, including Barcelona, Wolfsburg, Arsenal and Chelsea, who are patiently waiting for him to attain the age of majority before acquiring him from his Dutch club.
“We are still keeping tabs on him- we know he will be in Belgium this weekend 8/13 in Brussels in a tournament that features the top teams in Belgium- Anderlecht, Royal Antwerp and Standard liege, ” a top European scout told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I know a lot of my scouting colleagues all across Europe would be there from Real Madrid (who have shown interest) to Lyon and Ajax scouts.
“We have our work cut out for us because of the high competition we face from these clubs.”
The 12-year-old Omidiji has committed his international future to Nigeria ahead of the United States and Holland.
