Uwakwe Continues To Live Up To His Billing As A Top Prospect; Shines In Chelsea Win
Published: August 26, 2016
The young Nigerian midfielder Tariq Uwakwe played a big part in Chelsea’s 5-0 rout of Swansea City in the U18 Premier League on Friday afternoon.
Though the 16-year-old did not get on the scoresheet, he had a couple of chances to score his second goal for the academy team of the Blues.
In the first half, Uwakwe, who partnered McCormick in central midfield, fired a shot which struck the inside of the post before the ball was cleared off the line by a Swansea defender, then saw another effort blocked minutes later.
Martell Taylor-Crossdale (2) Harvey St Clair, Luke McCormick and Charlie Brown found the back of the net for the London team in the second half.
Tariq Uwakwe scored his first-ever goal for the Blues in their 3-2 loss to Southampton last weekend.
