Chelsea Impressed By Kelechi Iheanacho Goal Against Tanzania
Published: September 04, 2016
In its review of the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Tanzania, the official website of Chelsea paid tribute to Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho after scoring a stunning goal which gave the Super Eagles a win.
The Blues were interested in the contest at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium because two very important players in their ranks in the shape of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses were involved.
“The Super Eagles knew they could not qualify for January’s Africa Cup of Nations after a disappointing campaign, but they did at least finish with victory against the east Africans courtesy of a brilliant Kelechi Iheanacho strike 12 minutes from time.
“Mikel, the captain, was withdrawn shortly before then having been heavily involved in their bronze-medal-winning Olympic run last month.
“Moses played 81 minutes having put a couple of good chances over, ’’ Chelsea stated via their official webpage.
Iheanacho was in the Manchester City squad that lost 5-1 to Chelsea in the FA Cup back in February, and played the last five minutes of the Citizens 3-0 win over the Blues in the Premier League two months later at Stamford Bridge.
