Record-breaking Osimhen one-goal away from matching manager Okan Buruk's Galatasaray tally
Published: October 25, 2025
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is on the brink of equalling the goal tally of Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk as the Turkish giants prepare to face Goztepe in their next league fixture.
The Nigerian forward, who joined Galatasaray on loan for the 2024/2025 campaign, has been in sensational form, scoring 42 goals in just 49 appearances for the Yellow-Reds.
His remarkable run has seen him break and set multiple records since arriving in Istanbul.
Buruk, a club legend during his playing days, scored 43 goals in 306 appearances for Galatasaray.
Osimhen now sits just one goal shy of matching his manager’s tally, a feat he could achieve if he finds the net against Göztepe.
The 26-year-old has faced Göztepe only once in the league, scoring in a 2-1 victory back in January 2025.
With his current form, he will be eager to repeat the feat and help Galatasaray strengthen their position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table.
Osimhen holds the record as the fastest Galatasaray goalscorer in UEFA Champions League history, following his early strike against Bodo/Glimt.
He also became the first Galatasaray player to score in seven consecutive European matches, underlining his influence and consistency on the continental stage.
A goal against Goztepe would not only see Osimhen equal his coach’s goal tally but also further cement his status as one of the most prolific strikers to ever wear the Galatasaray shirt.
