Europe’s heavyweight clubs are monitoring the progress of Sunderland teenage sensation of Nigerian descent Joel Asoro with a view to a transfer in the near future, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Scouts representing Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Inter, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal, Valencia, Lyon and RB Leipzig were in the stands as Sweden were held to a 1-1 draw by Spain in a UEFA U21 Championship qualifier on Monday.
The 17-year-old, who was making his debut for Sweden U21s, impressed the scouts present at Swedbank Stadion (Malmö).
Swedish-born Joel Asoro is a product of IF Brommapojkarna , the club he represented before he transferred to Sunderland in 2015.
He is the youngest player to play for Sunderland in the Premier League at 17 years and 117 days following his appearance in the 81st minute against Middlesbrough on August 21.
It has been reported that the president of PSG Nasser Al-Khelaifi has opened preliminary talks with Asoro’s intermediary over a transfer but the Ligue 1 moneybags now face competition.
