Slovakian champions AS Trenčín have signed Nigeria international Reuben Gabriel, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
The 25-year-old was a free agent before the close of the summer transfer window and has appended his signature to a two-year deal, tying him to AS Trenčín until the end of the 2017-2018 season.
The powerful defensive midfielder has been on the radar of the Fortuna Liga powerhouse for the past twelve months and they have now firmed up their interest by offering him a contract.
Gabriel has 12 caps for the Nigerian national team and was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations, before making the roster to the 2014 World Cup and played against France in the second round.
He previously represented Kilmarnock, Waasland-Beveren and Boavista after starring for Kano Pillars and Enyimba in his homeland.
Whilst at Pillars, he excelled and won the Player of the Year and the National Team Player of the Year at the 2012 League Bloggers Awards.
Gabriel was linked with a possible move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in 2014.
