Nigeria And England Set To Battle For Manchester City Defender Elewa-Ikpakwu
Published: September 07, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the highly-rated Manchester
City defender Edward Elewa-Ikpakwu will have to make a decision whether to
commit his international future to the Super Eagles or Three Lions in
future.
Elewa-Ikpakwu is in the possession of a British passport but eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents.
At the moment, the English Football Association are ahead of the Nigerian Federation in the race to secure his services, and the 15-year-old will fancy his chances of making his competitive debut for the senior team of England if he continues his development.
Born January 8, 2001, Elewa-Ikpakwu was called up by England U16 coach Dan Micciche for the two international friendlies against Romania late August, and featured in both matches, lasting the distance in the first game and replaced Man City teammate Nathaniel Ogbeta, who is also Nigerian, in the second fixture.
Jordan Aina (Chelsea) and Xavier Amaechi (Arsenal) are also members of the England U16 squad and eligible to play for Nigeria.
