Premier League Best Player, Leicester & Bordeaux Stars Headline Algeria Roster For Nigeria Game
Published: November 01, 2016
Barring any last minute changes, Leicester City strikers Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani will headline the list of players called up to the Algerian national team for their World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in eleven days time.
New Algeria manager Georges Leekens will announce his roster for the crucial match in Uyo before the start of a press conference on Tuesday.
Another certainty to be named in the squad is former France youth-teamer Adam Ounas, with his French club Bordeaux already announcing that he will make his debut for the Desert Foxes against Nigeria.
It is thought that the Nigeria Football Federation took a leaf out of Algerian Football Federation’s books when they summoned 25 players to camp, including Watford’s Isaac Success who had to withdraw due to injury, as manager Leekens is expected to announce a 25-player squad.
After the first round of matches, Nigeria lead the way with three points followed by Algeria and Cameroon who have one point each.
