Liverpool Next Big Hope Ejaria On Target In England Loss To South Korea
Published: November 10, 2016
Liverpool young midfielder Ovie Ejaria registered his name on the scorecard as England U20s lost 2-1 to South Korea in the Continental Cup on Thursday.
The central midfielder made his first appearance in the competition after he was a non-playing substitute against Nigeria on Wednesday, and was named in the starting XI alongside three other players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Charlton Athletic’s Ademola Looman, Spurs’ Josh Onomah and Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori.
On 14 minutes, Ejaria opened scoring when his shot was deflected by South Korean goalie Bumkeun Song, but the opponents equalized after the half-hour mark before netting the winner in the 70th minute.
The former Golden Eaglets trainee has now scored two goals from three appearances for England, having hit target in his last game against USA U20s before the meeting with the hosts.
The Young Lions face Iran in their last game on Saturday, hoping that Nigeria will do them a favour by beating South Korea.
