English Premier League club Arsenal have hailed their attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi following his audacious rainbow flick over the head of an opponent during the first half of the Super Eagles 3-1 win over Algeria in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.
The Gunners have stated that Iwobi’s display of the outrageous skill evoked memories of his uncle, former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Austin Okocha, who captained the Nigerian national team before his retirement.
“ð³ð¬ A 3-1 win and an outrageous piece of skill reminiscent of his uncle. It’s been a good day for @alexiwobi and @NGSuperEagles, ” Arsenal said via their official Twitter account.
Indeed, it was a good day at the office for Gernot Rohr’s charges, who have garnered maximum points from their first two matches in World Cup qualifying.
Chelsea duo Victor Moses and Obi Mikel were on target in the 3-1 win over the North Africans.
