Injured Mikel To Train With Chelsea First-Teamers Next Week
Published: November 26, 2016
Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel will resume training at Chelsea next week.
It has been claimed by Blues boss Antonio Conte that the holding midfielder has not featured for the London club in recent matches due to a muscular complaint.
But the 29-year-old is making good progress in his bid to return to full fitness, and is set to join the first-teamers at Cobham in the new week, according to the Italian manager.
This season, Mikel has not made a single appearance for Chelsea, and to make matters worse, he has not been named in an 18-man squad for competitive games, fueling speculation that he is set to call time on his career with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
He has been on the books of Chelsea for more than ten years, and will become a free agent in June 2017 if he does not sign a new deal or move onto pastures new in January.
