Zaidu makes injury comeback as Porto miss out on history after defeat to Nottingham Forest

Zaidu Sanusi and his teammates' hopes of etching their names into the history books were dashed on a disappointing night at the City Ground, as Porto fell 2–0 to Nottingham Forest, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

A win would have marked the Porto's first-ever victory on English soil over an English side in European competition, but Francesco Farioli's men were undone by defensive lapses, conceding two penalties that were calmly converted by Morgan Gibbs-White and Igor Jesus.

The defeat extends Porto's poor record on English soil - the Dragons have now lost twenty-one of their twenty-four matches against English opposition in England, drawing only three.

On a positive note, Zaidu marked his return from injury, featuring for the final fourteen minutes after coming off the bench to replace Alberto Costa.

The left-back had been sidelined with a right calf injury sustained on international duty during Nigeria's World Cup qualifier against Benin on October 14, which ruled him out of Porto's last domestic fixture before the trip to England.

Having fully recovered, Zaidu was cleared for selection and travelled with the squad, paving the way for his first appearance since the injury setback.

Meanwhile, Porto have already begun preparations for their upcoming clash with Moreirense FC, holding a training session at Loughborough University.

While Zaidu, the substitutes and unused players trained on the grass, the starters underwent recovery work at the team's hotel.
