In the early game between Middlesbrough and Leicester City, it ended goalless at the Riverside Stadium. Nigeria star Ahmed Musa entered into the fray in the 71st minute for the champions.
England midfielder Ross Barkley started and was involved for 85 minutes in Everton’s 3-0 rout of Southampton at Goodison Park. Saints young striker Olufela Olomola didn’t make the match day squad.
Despite going down to ten men after 32 minutes, Manchester City grinded out a 2-1 win over Burnley at the Etihad Stadium. All the goals came in the second half.
Kelechi Iheanacho started before he was replaced in the 46th minute. Teammate Tosin Adarabioyo wasn’t involved.
Sunderland twice fought back from one-goal deficits to draw 2-2 with Liverpool. Victor Anichebe is out injured and did not feature for the Black Cats.
Young stars Josh Maja (Sunderland) and Ovie Ejaria (Liverpool) were non-playing substitutes. Sheyi Ojo and Tiago Ilori are with the Reds U23 squad, while Sweden U21 international Joel Asoro wasn’t considered by Moyes.
Hull City without the injured Moses Odubajo lost their eighth consecutive away game to West Brom at The Hawthorns. Hal Robson-Kanu subbed in for the Baggies on 62 minutes. It finished 3-1.
Italy international Angelo Ogbonna starts for West Ham in their tie with Manchester United at the London Stadium.
